Small, Beautiful Kitchens
31st March 2011
It’s not always the case that a house will have a spacious, light and airy kitchen in. Small kitchens are very common in extemely old and very new houses and flats. The kitchen is often referred to as being the most important area of the house and as such it is vital that you make sure that it is designed well enough to have everything that is needed in it. Everyone can enjoy well built bespoke kitchens!
In order to create a good quality bespoke kitchen that will maximise the space available in the room and give you everything you need you will need to contact a bespoke kitchen designer as a normal showroom designer will not be able to work with a small or awkward shaped room. The designers in the big nationwide chains do not design anything. They will cram in as many cupboards as they can, you then tell them the finish you want for your cupboards and the worktops – their job is then done! They cant help with making the most of the space. It would require a good quality designer to help you make effective use of the space you have in your small kitchen and still get everything you need.
To help keep as much of your space free, while fitting in as much as you need, the designer will be able to use a combination of low level, full height and wall mounted cupboards and then deciding on where to put the appliances, whether its in the cupboards or wall mounted.
The tough task is when trying to design the kitchen to fit everything in, but while still keeping as much space as possible. A bespoke kitchen manufacturer can measure up your room and ensure that you make the most of the space by creating custom cupboards that will fit perfectly within the room without any dead space.
Tricks such as using cupboards which aren’t quite as deep as standard cupboards, floor to ceiling larders and wall mounted cupboards around the room will all help to provide as much space for storage and appliances as possible, but at the same time retaining as much floor space as they can so that the kitchen doesn’t become too cramped.
Our final pointer for making the most of your small kitchen is to be strict with what you actually need in there. If you can lose one floor standing cupboard, this will release valuable floor space. However do not cut back too far as you need to ensure you still have more than enough space.
Not only can a kitchen which is small be practical but you can make it beautiful as well. Small bespoke kitchens are beautiful!
